The Next Education System p.3

So what subjects should be focused on? Math and Science is critical, and without question would be the center piece of our education curriculum. These subjects would allow all humans to understand the world around them and be able to apply technical solutions to problems they encounter in the future.

A “social studies” should be another large focus. This subject would allow us to understand how to communicate with each other, though language, actions, observation, and basically bridge the difference in disagreements.

One subject possibly called “Creative” would involve arts of all types, and any pursuit that may be considered more hobby. Music, painting, dance, and more could be tied into this one subject. As a students interests shift or expand, switching would be a simple task as finishing out a semester would no longer be needed to pursue something new.

History as it has so far been recorded, isn’t a very reliable teacher, therefore we should teach in the social studies course a very bland, fact based version of history as it pertains to understanding our past behaviors. All data that isn’t verified through multiple reliable unbiased sources should be then labeled a certain way to make that clear and that history could be offered under the “creative” subject as a hobby.

One day I hope we create a clear language, one not open to interpretation, but until that happens we will still need to teach how to use what we have. A subject called “Language” should include all needed reading and writing of all known languages anyone wants to learn. There should be no future required courses in language past what’s needed to study a current educational direction.

Physical Education should be removed from a class type environment and instead the exercise should be built into the learning center itself. The path is optional, but most young people will op to take a path of monkey bars along the path to class to burn off energy. Stairs are a natural exercise as well. Uphill walks, with a fun incentive to get back down to the bottom after class works for all ages.

Sports should be removed from the education system. It serves as a distraction from learning, even pushing the system to allow athletes to bypass their education to play the games. When the game is over, what do the students have? There is plenty of outside sports organizations for students of all ages to participate in.

In the end this is all decided by the people, what will be taught and how it’s structured into courses is out of any one person’s hands, as it should be. We should welcome change as it allows us to quickly adapt new ideas and discoveries into our education system.
